Over 65s Round Robin 07-Jun-19

7th June 2019 (report by Alan Read)

The over 65’s representing Watford travelled East to Romford Tournament with fixtures against Barnet A, Norwich A, Walton Swifts A and Romford A.

The 6 players were:
– the tigerish Ken Littleboy
– the composed Colin Sills
– the industrialist Michael Smith
– the skilful Steve Morris
– the very unlucky George Ferrar
– me (Alan Read) acting (yes acting) as GK.
Unlucky (just returned from a broken collarbone) George took himself off after 10 mins due to a suspected fractured foot, so we nab someone from the crowd to play.
Each of the four fixtures that we played in the team displayed sportsmanship, fortitude, resilience, creativity, innovation and great team work which surprised the many on lookers who soon became Watford fans.
We won 2 of the fixtures and lost 2 with Silky Steve bagging 3 goals with one of them being the best in the tournament and Michael,  Colin and Ken securing a goal each.
There was only one outstanding person: The Team!!!
